Jonathan Duffy
is and Australian comedian, actor and cabaret performer. He was born in Brisbane Australia in 1985 and began acting tuition at the age of 8. Jonathan had always wanted to be a leading man and at the age of 19 tried stand up comedy for the first time. His enjoyment for making people laugh marked a shift in his career focusing more on stand up comedy.
Jonathan also began making film projects. In 2011 his first feature documentary was released. ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ was an autobiographical story following Duffy and his then partner, Dr Vincent Cornelisse as they made the move from the Metropolis of Brisbane to the central Queensland town of Mundubbera as an openly gay couple. The film was well received and had a successful festival run. The Doctor's Wife went on to win Jono the Award of Excellence in Filmmaking at the Canada International Film Festival in 2012.
Jonathan moved to Iceland in 2015 and has since become a main stayer in the comedy scene. He performs regular shows with Icelandic comics as well as solo shows and has become a very popular event host. His observations on Iceland, its people and language regularly get him booked for both Icelandic and foreign audiences.
Since arriving Jonathan was also the creative director for the Icelandic entry to Eurovision (2016 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xQxQRdZasQ" target="_blank">Hear them Calling - Greta Salome), he spoke at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2bQ-0YApiQ" target="_blank">TedX Rejkjavík, was nominated for music video of the year in the Icelandic people’s choice awards (Páll Óskar - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmcDdTVHGD8" target="_blank">Gegnum Dimman Dal) and is the creator of the online comic strip Bruce the Angry Bear.
Jonathan has appeared in small roles in Icelandic film and television both in english and Icelandic. He can speak with American, British, Australian and Dutch accents as well as a multitude of others.
