Stefán Hallur Stefánsson
Since his graduation from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2006, Stefán Hallur has worked with professional international and local representation in theatre, film and television including the National Theater of Iceland, Reykjavík City Theater, Vesturport, ART (USA), CDN Orléans (FRA), Blue eyes Productions, Sagafilm, Pegasus Productions, ZikZak Filmworks, Mystery Island, RÚV, ZDF (GER) and ARD (GER).
As a resident at the National Theater of Iceland from 2006 he has portrayed a variety of main cast roles such as Edward in KING LEAR, Lövborg in HEDDA GABLER, Macbeth in MACBETH, Dionysos in THE BACCHAE, Hans in Sofi Oksanen´s PURGE, Fjalla- Eyvindur in FJALLA-EYVINDUR and Lúkas in LÚKAS for which he received a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2013 at the Icelandic Theater Awards. He was also nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for THE CRUCIBLE at the National Theater that same year.
Stefán Hallur won Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2017 for GOTT FÓLK at the Icelandic Theater Awards, Gríman, produced by the National Theater.
He is currently directing YOUR OWN PLAY by Icelandic author Ævar Þór Benediktsson at the National Theater premiering at the end of January.
TV & FILM
Stefán Hallur has been featured in several foreign and domestic TV series and sitcoms. SENSE8 for Netflix (USA), HERZEN AUF EIS and WEGENER PROJECT for ZDF (GER) and THE SOLVEIG KARLDOTTIR MYSTERIES for ARD (GER). Icelandic credits include PRESSA and RÉTTUR 2 for which he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Icelandic Film&TV Awards in 2010.
His latest role is the male lead in RÚVs upcoming 4-part series THE FLATEY ENIGMA is out in November 2018.
Feature films include JÓHANNES, ROKLAND, DESEMBER and DJÚPIÐ. For the latter two Stefán Hallur received nominations for Best Supporting Actor at the Icelandic Film&TV Awards in 2008 and 2012.
RADIO
Stefán Hallur directed a 4 -part series radio play at the National Broadcasting Corporation (RÚV) in 2016 LIFUN for which he won Best Radio Play at the Icelandic Theater Awards in 2017.
