Þórey Birgisdóttir

Currently playing Celia in As you like it by Shakespeare at the National Theatre of Iceland and rehearsing a new musical called the The Dream thief.

Thorey is an Icelandic actress born in Reykjavik. In 2018 she graduated with a bachelor´s degree in acting from the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

In her final year of drama school, she was offered a role at the National Theater of Iceland and since then done everything from Shakespeare to musicals.

She took on roles such as Hermia in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Shakespeare, Lára in Lára og Ljónsi, Natasha in “Master and Margarita” by Búlgakov, to name a few.
Other plays to mention: Rhinoceros, Shakespeare in Love, Ronia the robber’s daughter, Cardamom-town, Slá í gegn, Kopavogskronika, The Vlog and Karius and Bactus.

In films she played Hannah in the award winning short film “Thick Skin”. She has also appeared in the TV series “Case”, the feature film “Agnes Joy” and the short film “Dovetail”.

She has a diploma in classical ballet and contemporary dance from the National Ballet School of Iceland(2013) and has worked as a freelance dancer in all sorts of projects. In Reykjavik City Theater she participated in the productions “Mary Poppins”, “The Wizard of Oz” and “Lazytown” at the National and worked as a dancer in the Icelandic Eurovision contest. She’s a trained gymnast, dancer (classical ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, musical theater, tap, tango etc.) and a singer (soprano).

Speaks fluent Icelandic and English.
